SMSMondial, the Maltese retail arm of the Orange Travel Group, has in collaboration with Costa
Cruises & VisitMalta, organised an exclusive event, the Calypso Abyss Party, on Saturday 18 th May.
This was the worldwide preview of the party, part of the “Sea Destinations” series by Costa Cruises
that will be organised on board Costa ships starting from June 2024.
Held at Saluting Battery & Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta, with the impressive back drop of the
Grand Harbour, the evening featured Holobox technology – never used before in such events, a full
gun salute, and an immersive video mapping show on the massive bastions of Fort St Angelo inspired
by the Calypso Abyss Party. All came to an end with pumping music by the Versatile Brass Band
together with a DJ fusion. At the beginning of the eve, short speeches were delivered by Mr Mirco
Vassallo, International Sales Director for Costa Cruises, Dr Gavin Gulia, Chairman of Malta Tourism
Authority, and Mr Lawrence Zammit, Chairman of Orange Travel Group
During the event, attended by over 1,000 guests, the Costa Malta-to-Malta cruise brochure for 2025
was launched.
